Within the goal of gender equality within Sustainable Development Week, the College of Arts holds a workshop entitled Empowering Women in the Field of Art.

Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Fine Arts at Diyala University, Professor Dr. Alaa Shaker Mahmoud, the College of Fine Arts held a workshop entitled Empowering Women in the Field of Art today, Tuesday, 7/9/2024, in the interactive classroom, and in the presence of the college’s teaching ladies and gentlemen.
The workshop, which was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Roaa Khaled Abdel Latif, head of the Women’s Empowerment Unit at our college, included several points, the most important of which were:
Empowering women in the field of art represents a multidimensional process that aims to enhance women’s ability to express themselves freely, participate effectively in cultural and social life, and access equal opportunities in the world of art. This includes empowerment
– Developing technical skills, and providing financial and moral support.
– Promoting awareness of the importance of women’s role in the arts. Fine art, cinema, theater and music. And craft arts such as sewing, cooking and barbering. The importance of empowering women in art comes from:
Confronting social challenges: Through art, women can highlight social, political and economic issues that affect them, which contributes to raising awareness and creating change.
Independence and economic empowerment: Art provides women with an opportunity to achieve financial and professional independence, and enhance their self-confidence and abilities.
Preserving cultural heritage: Women play a crucial role in transmitting and preserving cultural and artistic heritage, and educating future generations.
There must be support to market their artistic works through holding exhibitions, bazaars, and electronic marketing
