With the brush of art and the glow of faith, an art exhibition at the College of Fine Arts evokes the Battle of Karbala as part of the Arbaeen events.

On the occasion of the Cultural Week launched by the President of Diyala University, Professor Dr. Tahseen Hussein Mubarak, to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), the College of Fine Arts opened a distinguished art exhibition depicting the immortal Karbala incident this morning, Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
The exhibition was inaugurated in the presence of the Dean of the College of Fine Arts, Professor Dr. Alaa Shaker Mahmoud, who emphasized in his speech the importance of art’s role in documenting human values and historical heroism, most notably the Karbala epic, which represents an immortal school of patience, steadfastness, and sacrifice.
The art exhibition was signed by Professor Adel Atallah Khalifa and artist Mu’ayyad Al-Mandlawi, and was hosted in the college’s halls amid a spiritual atmosphere and sincere feelings of loyalty.
The paintings on display varied in their expressionist and abstract styles, expressing scenes from the Karbala Battle and the values of sacrifice, justice, and resistance it held.
Attendees interacted with the displayed artworks, emphasizing that this initiative enhances cultural and religious awareness among generations and reinterprets the Karbala tragedy in the language of timeless art.
The Dean also praised the artists’ great efforts, commending their artistic messages that embodied the Husseini values as a symbol of the nation’s unity and a source of inspiration for free people everywhere.
It is worth noting that this exhibition is part of a series of events organized by the college throughout the Cultural Week, embodying the eternal message of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
