The Dean’s Representative Opens an Art Exhibition Entitled “Women Are Life”

The representative of the Dean of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Diyala, Professor Dr. Alaa Shaker Mahmoud, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Zaid Manhal, representative of the Syndicate of Academics at the College of Fine Arts, opened today, Wednesday, February 19, 2025, the art exhibition of the Department of Fine Arts in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit and the Continuing Education Division at the college.

The exhibition included artistic paintings related to the role of women to spread awareness and keep pace with the labor market and the role of women in preparing generations for the year 2025. This art exhibition comes in implementation of the third national plan for women.

The representative of the Dean of the College said during the opening of the exhibition: Arts and cultural activities are an essential means of expressing identity and different human experiences, as they show the extent of the influence of art in bringing about cultural and social change. From this standpoint, the “Women are Life” event came as a title that carries within it many symbolic and cultural connotations. This title was adopted to be in line with a progressive vision that calls for focusing on the position of women in society and their contribution to the advancement of culture and arts.
For her part, the Head of the Fine Arts Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Jolan Hussein Alwan, said that this event is part of a series of initiatives that aim to highlight women’s contributions in all areas of life, whether social, cultural or artistic. Art is used as a means of expression and to convey a message related to life and renewal, and the title “Women are Life” highlights the vital role of women as a source of inspiration and a beacon of strength and beauty.
