The College of Fine Arts holds the University Photography Festival as part of the strategy to achieve sustainable development goals

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Fine Arts, Prof. Dr. Alaa Shaker Mahmoud, and in cooperation with the Student Activities Department at the Presidency of the University of Diyala, the Department of Cinema and Television Arts held the University Photography Festival today, Wednesday, 2/19/2025, in the presence of the Scientific Assistant, Prof. Dr. Yusra Abdul Wahab, the representative of the Syndicate of Academics in the College, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Zaid Manhal, the Head of the Department of Fine Arts, Asst. Prof. Dr. Golan Hussein, the Director of the Student Activities Department at the Presidency of the University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Samir Sabry, and a number of interested parties and students. The Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hussein Muhammad Ali Shahada, said in the opening ceremonies of the exhibition: We congratulate the efforts of the Department of Cinema and Television Arts, which resulted in the implementation of the University of Diyala’s strategy in embodying the goals of sustainable development artistically, noting that the photos taken by the students of the university’s colleges expressed a high level of aesthetics of photography in employing size, angle and subject. For his part, the Director of the Student Activities Department explained that the festival represents a great opportunity for talented students in the field of photography to showcase their creativity, especially since its topics are diverse and revolve around the framework of the seventeen sustainable development goals. In turn, the Head of the Cinema Arts Department confirmed that the participating photos in the festival, which amounted to more than fifty photos, were subjected to a jury that relied in its evaluation on the criteria of block distribution and the use of lines, lighting and colors.
