The College of Fine Arts at the University of Diyala held a workshop entitled How the Artist Thinks and Where He Gets Inspiration From. The workshop, which was managed and discussed by Assistant Lecturer Saad Qais Ahmed, emphasized understanding the creative thinking process of artists, exploring different sources of inspiration, learning how to develop creative ideas, and motivating participants to discover their unique way of thinking and creativity.
The artist’s thinking is characterized by a special depth that shows the ability to understand the world through a unique perspective. The artist’s thinking is not limited to daily experience only, but extends to spiritual and emotional experiences that stimulate creativity. In this workshop, we will learn how the journey of artistic thinking begins, starting from an atom of chaos or mental confusion to the formation and visual organization of ideas. The artist sees the world as raw material that can be reshaped by his unique imagination and artistic skills to express meanings and connotations that go beyond visible reality.
Although the creative process may seem spontaneous on the surface, it is often based on a combination of rationality and intuition. The artist uses his mental abilities to analyze the components of reality, while relying on intuition to anticipate what is not directly seen. This unique combination allows him to identify hidden relationships between elements and find symbols and meanings that go beyond the apparent.
