The College of Fine Arts holds a course entitled “Utilizing Environmental Materials (Land Art as a Model)”

Under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Professor Dr. Alaa Shaker Mahmoud, and within the activities of the Scientific Affairs Division, the college held today, Tuesday, 3-12-2024, a course entitled “Benefiting from Environmental Materials (Land Art as a Model)”. The course, which was lectured by Assistant Professor Dr. Golan Hussein Alwan, Head of the Department of Fine Arts, included defining non-traditional materials and several objectives.
Non-traditional materials
Defining land art and the most important materials used by the contemporary artist in his artistic formations from pebbles or stones, dirt, snow, palm fronds, tree leaves and shells.
The course aimed to introduce the most important features of this type of art due to the association of artistic formations with their location and considering them temporary and transient works because they are exposed to weather and environmental changes.
It also aimed to enhance environmental awareness by creating artworks that interact with nature
As well as considering these artworks as a reaction against the marketing of art and the traditional exhibition system
