As part of its educational activities marking Iraqi Oral and Dental Health Week, the College of Fine Arts at the University of Diyala held an educational seminar on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, on the importance of oral and dental health care. The seminar, held in cooperation with the Second Specialized Dental Center of the Diyala Governorate Health Department, highlighted oral and dental care as a public health priority. On this occasion, the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Alaa Shaker Mahmoud, said: “Our college is keen to build bridges of communication with government institutions concerned with the needs of society.” He noted that the goal of holding this seminar is to promote and consolidate a culture of dental care. He praised the efforts of the center’s medical staff and their commitment to educating our dear students on this matter. For his part, Dr. Mustafa Hikmat, Head of the Oral and Dental Health Division at the Diyala Health Department, emphasized that the guidance seminar held at the College of Fine Arts, in cooperation with the Specialized Dental Center in Baqubah, aims to promote health culture and raise awareness among an important segment of society: students of the College of Fine Arts, who may not have been adequately exposed to health information related to oral and dental health.
Dr. Abdul Hamid Salem Al-Taie, Director of the Second Specialized Center in Baqubah, explained that the center has prioritized reaching all segments of society to raise awareness and educate them about the importance of oral and dental care. He expressed his gratitude to the Deanship of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Diyala for their cooperation.
It is worth noting that the lecture delivered by Dr. Muhammad Abdul Razzaq Al-Najdawi at the seminar was well-received and engaged with the attendees, who benefited from the information they received regarding the importance of maintaining oral and dental health. This is a key factor in the early detection of potential health problems, which contributes to finding appropriate treatment solutions before the condition worsens. Similar educational initiatives demonstrate that prevention is better than cure, which is why awareness-raising events held during Health Week are so important.
