Cultural openness and honorable representation: The Iraqi Consul in Karachi receives the delegation from the College of Fine Arts participating in the 2025 World Culture Festival.

His Excellency Dr. Maher Majeed Jijan Al-Dulaimi, the Iraqi Consul in Karachi, received the delegation from the College of Fine Arts at Diyala University, participating in the 2025 World Culture Festival held in Karachi, Pakistan, at the Iraqi Consulate.
The meeting included an official luncheon hosted by His Excellency at his residence in honor of the Iraqi delegation, expressing his appreciation for the cultural and academic role the college plays in international forums.
In his remarks during the meeting, His Excellency the Consul expressed his pride in this participation, which represents Iraq’s first official presence at this international festival. He emphasized the importance of the arts in enhancing Iraq’s cultural and civilizational image on the world stage and in strengthening the values of communication and cultural openness among peoples.
For his part, the head of the Iraqi delegation, Assistant Professor Mohammed Khalis Ibrahim, expressed his deep gratitude for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, praising the great cooperation shown by His Excellency the Consul and the consulate staff in creating a conducive environment for the Iraqi delegation’s participation and its honorable representation of its country at this international cultural event. During the meeting, the delegation presented a commemorative artistic gift: a painting of His Excellency the Consul, created by student Noor Al-Huda Hussein from the Department of Art Education. The delegation also presented His Excellency with a special type of dates from Diyala Governorate as a token of friendship and pride in Iraqi identity.
A telephone call also took place between the Dean of the College of Fine Arts, Assistant Professor Dr. Golan Hussein Alwan, and His Excellency the Consul, Dr. Maher Majeed Jijan. The Dean expressed her gratitude for the exceptional attention and generous support provided by the Iraqi Consulate in Karachi to the College’s delegation, emphasizing that this support contributed to a successful and distinguished participation that represented Diyala University and Iraq in the best possible way.
In her remarks on the occasion, the Dean, Assistant Professor Dr. Golan Hussein Alwan, affirmed that the College of Fine Arts’ participation in this international festival represents a significant step towards cultural and artistic openness to the world. She added that it embodies the College’s vision of building bridges of cultural communication between Iraq and the rest of the world through the arts, noting that this achievement reflects the efforts of the faculty and students in showcasing the bright face of authentic Iraqi art. Mr. Hussein Mohammed Ali Shahatha, Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, expressed his great pride in this honorable representation, emphasizing that this success is a result of the college’s support and its commitment to developing cultural and international relations, which contributes to raising the profile of Diyala University in international artistic and academic circles.
This achievement embodies one of the Sustainable Development Goals – Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) – by building bridges of cultural cooperation between Iraqi academic institutions and diplomatic missions to enhance Iraq’s cultural presence on the international stage.
