The lecturer at the College of Fine Arts at the University of Diyala, Lecturer Dr. (Wajdan Adnan Muhammad), one of the lecturers in the Department of Cinema and Television Arts, participated with her research entitled “The Intellectual Is Miserable” by the writer Alexander Gribaidov in the Arab countries in the international scientific conference entitled “Mali Theater, a Big Story! The Bicentennial of the Historic Building of the Mali Theater”. Held on 24-25/10/2024. The research dealt with the fact that the play “The Intellectual Is Miserable” is one of the important literary classics in Russian literature, and the best works of Alexander Gribaidov, and writers such as Dostoevsky and Anton Chekhov were influenced by it. Russian literary classics are highly appreciated in the East, and it is known that Gribaidov was interested in Arabic literature, especially the poetry of Al-Mutanabbi, as the famous saying in his play (The Intellectual Is Miserable) is very similar to the famous saying in Al-Mutanabbi’s poetry. This section of Arabic poetry is distinguished by its poetic quality and beautiful linguistic structure, which is in direct harmony with the poetic quality and beauty of the Russian title. These participations of the college’s faculty members came based on the directives of the respected Dean of the College, Professor Dr. ((Alaa Shaker Mahmoud)) on the necessity of the college’s faculty members participating in international and local conferences due to their role in supporting the activity of the scientific research movement and raising the university’s global ranking according to international standards, which in turn contributes to enhancing the status of the college and the university locally and internationally.
