A new step towards collaborative creativity: The Dean of the College of Fine Arts meets with the Syndicate of Artists and the Director of the Iraqi Maqam House in Diyala.

The Dean of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Diyala, Assistant Professor Dr. Golan Hussein Alwan, received the Head of the Diyala Artists Syndicate Branch, Professor Adnan bin Ahmed, and the Director of the Iraqi Maqam House in Diyala, Professor Mustafa Al-Shammari. The meeting, held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, was attended by the Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Assistant Professor Hussein Muhammad Ali Shahada. The meeting focused on joint artistic and cultural cooperation.
During the meeting, ways to strengthen the partnership between the College of Fine Arts, the Artists Syndicate, Diyala Branch, and the Iraqi Maqam House were discussed, with the aim of reviving Iraqi musical heritage and supporting artistic and cultural initiatives in the province.
Assistant Professor Dr. Golan Hussein Alwan emphasized the importance of joint cooperation between the Academy, the Syndicate, and the Maqam House, noting that this partnership will open broad horizons for students and young artists to develop their skills and contribute to the preservation of Iraqi artistic heritage.
For his part, the Head of the Diyala Artists Syndicate Branch, Professor Adnan bin Ahmed, praised the college’s efforts in supporting the arts and talents, expressing his aspiration for joint projects that would enhance communication between academics and artists. The Director of the Iraqi Maqam House, Mr. Mustafa Al-Shammari, also emphasized the importance of organizing joint events and workshops to revive Iraqi musical heritage and present it to future generations in an innovative and sophisticated manner.
This cooperation is part of a strategic effort to strengthen the partnership between the College of Fine Arts, University of Diyala, the Iraqi Artists Syndicate, Diyala Branch, and the Iraqi Maqam House in Diyala, serving local culture and art and enriching the artistic movement in the province.
This visit achieved one of the Sustainable Development Goals, Goal 17: Building Partnerships to Achieve Goals.
